Hoi An

Ah Hoi An!

We arrived to our homestay 'Blue Lake Homestay'.
Room was fab! Delighted with ourselves.
Starving and tired we took bikes and headed into the old town (Unesco world heritage site!)
We got lost initially and got some crap food in a typical tourist place!
We prevailed on and headed for the old town.
Like something out of a fairytale, old houses, buildings and scattered with lanterns. Sitting along the river. Everywhere you turn are quaint coffee shops, restaurants, clothes stores and art galleries.
We spent the day into evening strolling around taking it all in.
Next day we set off towards the beach and visited the herb and vegetable gardens. Everyone here lives off the land and everything is so fresh and locally produced.
Spent a few hours sunning ourselves and jumping in and out of the sea.
Went looking for a coffee shop then.....story of our lives!!

Headed back in to the old city until the evening and let a lantern out into the river.

Then bumped into the Irish girls.....always manage to find each other! Had some grub with them.

We only had 2 days in Hoi An which was unfortunate but just so glad we got to see it at all.
We left the next day on a sleeper back to Hanoi. While we were waiting for it at the homestay the family invited us into their kitchen for some lunch. They were practising their English on us, was a tricky conversation but they were such lovely people. They kept giving us bowls of rice and what we hope was chicken!

Wonderful 2 days of relaxation and beauty in Hoi An!
