Koh Tao to Krabi
Since last post, things have definitely improved but not before they got slightly worse as it usually does!
So night before we left KT, we lost electricity and water. With rain falling heavy and only showing signs of getting heavier, we didn't sleep at all during the night. Which we're actually getting used to and functionally relatively well without any! Vit C, Iron and MorEPA (Thanks Timmy!) really helping us oh and Netflix!
When the morning arrived to leave the room, I felt an intense pang of 'Get me out of this room'!!! Wild eyed and haired I starting packing like a lunatic, so when Daniel suggested I sort everything into bags and pouches, he received a glare and a stern 'DONT'!!
While we waited in the 'lobby' of the 'hostel' Daniel was knocked in the head by a ping pong ball and a young boy with the biggest most beautiful smile was standing by the door looking very guilty! An hour or so of games and magic tricks with him and his older brother ensued and completely lifted our spirits and as Daniel said there is nothing like a kid to cheer you up!
We then made our way to the pier down the river (our road) where there were a helllluuuva lot of tourists (including our lovely Lucy and her friends) like ourselves, deflated, soaked to the bone, helpless and tired waited under shacks and huts for some relief from the rain. Now I know we sound dramatic about the rain, living in Ireland surely were weathered to it, but when you have all your belongings on your person scarcely covered from the rain it adds to the panic and frustration!
So in the queue, stationary, suddenly everyone in front of us moved quite a bit forward, so I jumped up panicked and heard a bang......yup, that was my phone, fallen to the sea in between the wooden deck. On realisation I simply looked at Daniel, defeated, shrugged and thought ah yeh sure why not!
An hour later our ride has arrived! The queue literally erupted into applause equally relieved/elated to be getting off this island! All good now.....well no. As we stand up to walk towards the catamaran I feel a sudden rush, dizziness, pins and needles, sweat, blurry vision and ringing in my ears. This is NOT good. Im going to black out on the pier metres from the boat need medical assistance and not make it on!
I pull at Daniels arm trying to make him aware of this impending disaster. All I could hear was 'Jess, were nearly there, the boats just there, you can do it, squeeze my hand'. Holding me up with legs like bambi all I could focus on was getting on that boat across that ickle piece of wood connecting the two! BUT I made it, mind over matter! Flopped onto closest seat and passed out for a few mins!!
From Koh Tao we made our way to Chumphon as a stopover to gather ourselves for 2 days before heading over to Krabi. Highlight our of time there was Daniel being heavily groped during our Thai massage (fully clothed I must add!!) I did keep an eye on her to behave herself, but she did seem to focus a lot of attention to that area and may have popped out his shoulder. Whereas I left feeling light as a feather!!!!
Waking up to make our way to Krabi, I was horrified at my reflection noticing my entire body covered in a hot itchy raised rash, eyes ,lips and ears swollen!! You have to laugh!
Took a few antihistamines, be grand!
After train, bus (like 3) we made it!
Krabi is so nice, so chilled with some great spots for food, drinks and general chilling!
We are in Krabi town and from there we went to Ao Nang and Railey, both beautiful.
Railey really captured us though, with Iguanas, monkeys, rock climbing, beaches, forests, caves and all in a small area it was idyllic. I called it the Goldilocks Island. Just right!
Also for anyone interested as Daniels clearly not :P I did spot two Brahminy Kites over the mangrove!!
Oh and sorry most importantly the rain has stopped and its EL SCORCHIO!!!
Feeling back on track and raring to go we head to an island called Koh Lanta tomorrow.
Good places to eat in Krabi: Kin-D U-Dee and a burger place opposite Graces Irish Bar! Krabi Coffee Shack for coffee and Coconut bread, coconut shake!
